At the core of Starch Monkey are three guys that grew up in LA in the shadows of Mt. Wilson. Having rocked together from a very young age, the pocket created by Jim, Eric and Brad is tight. Adding another So. Cal. local and fellow MI Alum Rashawn Bump and Cincinnati native Chris Johnson as the spotlight out in front makes the powerful lure of Starch Monkey undeniable. More than just experiencing the world as it passes by, Starch Monkey lives at full volume, willing dreams to reality. Dreams of success, of family, love, anguish and everything in between. Rellas helms the song writing, but it’s their diverse, individual perspectives that shape their stories – and that’s what makes these guys a band. This music generates a vibe, a pocket and hum that makes you scream, cry, dance and basically, just have a great fu#k!ng time. Starch Monkey is Jim Rellas on guitar & keyboards, Eric Fiedler on drums, Rashawn Bump on guitar, Chris Johnson singing lead and Brad Wetmore filling out their sound on bass. Hailing from West Fargo, North Dakota; singer-songwriter Michael Pink blends folk, rock and country and a certain special something from the dust of a rural Dakota country road. First stepping in front of a microphone in an abandoned post office of a town with one stop light, he penned his first song at age 20 and performed for the first time following a hypnotist at an open mic in downtown Fargo. Since then, he has won the accolades of some of his idols and acclaim from Kostas; Grammy-award winning songwriter who has penned hits for such artists as Dwight Yoakam, The Mavericks and The Dixie Chix. He has shared the stage with such artists as Trampled By Turtles, Mason Jennings, and The BoDeans. Presently writing songs for an upcoming release, he has joined forces with Jacob Ingamar, a young pedal steel guitarist who accents and adds tasteful emphasis to Pink’s masterfully crafted songs, all held together by the solid backbeat of percussionist Rebecca Erdahl. Michael’s music has been described as a Parsons(Gram) meets Paul(Westerberg) musical collision.
