If Nancarrow’s music seems familiar to you, it’s easy to see why. With members already having logged time with bands and artists such as Steve Earle, Rhett Miller, Murry Hammond, Steve Jones, The White Buffalo, Nipsy Russel, Comanche Moon, and the Dukes of Haggard, their roots run deep in Country and Alternative music. Fronted by 24 year old singer/songwriter Graham Nancarrow, the band infuses raw energy and classic tones to create their own unique blend of traditional country music that feels like a friendly old pair of boots. Throw in a smokey tavern, a she devil, an Elvis sighting, and a few empty bottles, and what you end up with are the bones of hit songs, and the resurrection of pure American music.
Peter Tvrznik grew up in the small, beautiful city of Monterey, California, where he found his passion for music and songwriting through the influence of creative friends and family. In March 2012, Peter entered the studio to record his first musical release, "The EP", and is currently pitching tracks to TV and film projects. Having recently relocated to Los Angeles, Peter is excited to make his southern California debut at the Whisky A Go Go.
THE COVER STORY NEWS
With roots in Silverlake, Atwater Village & Glendale, Steve & Vangie Benchek are proud to bring their new band to The Whisky A Go-Go. Their local Santa Barbara band, The Cover Story News formed in August 2011, and prefer to go genre-less, mixing it up with everything from classic rock to R&B, indie-pop to alternative blues, beatnik jazz to acoustic originals. The band has guest jazz horn players who spice up the music by sitting in on a few songs. All together they are an eclectic group of musicians of diverse backgrounds and taste in music, even with a couple of them returning to music after a long hiatus – one consistent underlying theme persists, the chemistry works. Featuring songwriters, Kim Schmitt & Phillip Tirman and Chicago Blues guitarist, Joe Purpura round out the band performing on Sept.8th.
