Mufkin Tass is an ambitious band which was founded in 2010. It sprang from a
studio / songwriting-project by brothers Ralph and Mark Schraven. After years of playing and touring in
successful bands, they missed one thing: a big musical project in which they could pour all their
creativity.

The adventure of creating the Mufkin Tass-album began in 2003 when Mark and Ralph decided that
the time had come to make the album they had always wanted to make, namely a grand and
compelling, American-sounding rock album.

In order to achieve this, they contacted some of the most in-demand session musicians to contribute
to the album. Without the budget of a major label behind them, they were forced to take the entire
production into their own hands. With just the exceptional quality of the songs as a selling point, they
were able to snag some of the giants in the session world: Kenny Aronoff, Rusty Young, Jerry Scheff
and the Master of the Telecaster, James Burton.

So it happened that the musicians of (a.o.) Alanis Morissette, Bob Dylan, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen,
Elvis Presley, Enrique Iglesias, Eric Clapton, Frank Sinatra, John Denver, Johnny Cash, Lady GaGa,
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Meat Loaf , Melissa Etheridge, Neil Young, Sheryl Crow, Tina Turner, The Doors
added their distinctive sounds to the debut album of Mufkin Tass. The end result is an eclectic mix of
the aforementioned artists: American rock with a European flavor.

During this time, Ralph and Mark worked with top producers, top musicians in top studio’s, with top
photographers and learned a lot from them. But with the completion of the album, the adventure did
not come to an end. In 2010 it was time form a band that could match the power of the album and start
touring. The musicians that they found are, like their American counterparts, seasoned musicians that
have played all venues in the Netherlands, from small clubs to big stadiums.

The band’s first gig was in April 2010, when they accompanied guitar legend James Burton during his
European tour. Burton was so impressed with the band, he invited Mufkin Tass to come play at his
festival in Shreveport, Louisiana. He and Mufkin Tass will tour once again in the fall of 2012. Until then
Mufkin Tass can be found on stage everywhere and anywhere.
